CARTHAGE, Mo. — The community is invited to celebrate the opening of the Kolpin Family Pavilion with a special ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday, March 25, at 2 p.m. at 122 Grant St. in Carthage.
Join us as we celebrate the opening of the Kolpin Family Pavilion — the future home of the Carthage Farmers Market and a welcoming space for community events and connection. The celebration will showcase the pavilion in action, with food, drinks and live music. Designed to support local farmers, increase access to fresh foods and bring people together, the pavilion will also serve as a venue for gatherings, celebrations and community events for years to come.
“This pavilion represents so much more than a structure — it’s an investment in the health, connection and vibrancy of our community,” said Lora Phelps, executive director of the McCune-Brooks Healthcare Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful to the Kolpin family and all of our donors who made this vision possible, and we’re excited to see how this space will bring people together for generations.”
The pavilion is made possible through the generosity and vision of Ruth Kolpin, a leader whose commitment to Carthage created a lasting impact. From lighting the star atop the Jasper County Courthouse as a symbol of peace to investing in education and faith, she believed deeply in helping others with what she had. Through the Ruth I. Kolpin Family Foundation, her legacy continues to shine, and this gift reflects her enduring love for the community.
Additional lead support for the project was provided at the Cornerstone Level by the McCune-Brooks Healthcare Foundation. Foundation Level donors include The Steadley Family and the McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital Trust. The project has also been made possible through the generosity of many other organizations and private donors who share a commitment to strengthening the health and vitality of the community.
Community members, local leaders and supporters are encouraged to attend and help celebrate this milestone.
